Over the weekend, we welcomed over 600 passengers on one hellish cruise as the Metal Cruise once again rocked away between Copenhagen and Oslo.

Red Warszawa - Metal Cruise 2021

Crown Seaways was significantly heavier than usual over the weekend. Not just because it was one of the most booked sailings this year, but due to the over 600 metalheads and nine bands that went on one exceptional voyage as the Metal Cruise took place in cooperation with Copenhell – an annual rock festival in Denmark.

It all started before departure as our guests were greeted with music and excitement at the terminal.

Our colleagues were ready to welcome everyone on board Crown Seaways that was decorated with skulls, pentagrams and crosses – everything to set the scene for one enormous metal ride. However, the onboard crew had also ensured calm before the storm with boardgames and music quizzes to enjoy with a cold beverage.

When the night came closer, Columbus Bar, Moonlight Clubb and Navigator’s Bar transformed into a centrum of headbangs and hand-horns. Bands like Beast, Lydsyn and Red Warszawa were ready to take their audience on a journey they would not forget anytime soon. Luckily it was only waves of pure rock hitting our passengers as the weather was calm between Copenhagen and Oslo. The next day began with a smile as passengers were greeted with a solid breakfast, the smell of our DFDS branded coffee and the thoughts of yet another day devoted to metal. Eat, rock, sleep, repeat.

“The fact that we once again can invite our passengers on the Metal Cruise is a strong sign that we are heading in a positive direction towards normalcy after the pandemic. The work done by our onboard crew, teams from Passenger and cooperation with our partners from Copenhell, all made this a big success, and we are looking forward to rock again next year even bigger” says Kasper Wilquin, Event Operations Manager, and Iben Stilling, Partnership Manager.

"A big thank you for making the event a success with lots of hard work and effort from Iben Stilling, Phillip Marco and Kasper Wilquin as well as all the crew working on Crown. This is a good example of how we practice the "DFDS Way" across functions and departments in practical," says Catharina Hallberg, Head of Global Partnerships.
