U.N. Ro-Ro opens new line to Greece’s Patras Port
U.N. Ro-Ro, the leading ro-ro company operating intermodal transport, has started sailing from Istanbul’s Pendik Port to Patras Port. Patras is the most important port in south-eastern Greece.

With this new ro-ro line between Pendik and Patras, customers of U.N. Ro-Ro will be able to transport their units to and from Turkey and Greece, and from Greece to Europe. With this line, transit time and cost advantages would be maintained for companies doing transport through Greece.
The initial sailing schedule between Pendik and Patras includes voyages in both directions. Departures from Pendik are on Friday evenings, arrivals to Patras are on Sunday mornings. Departures from Trieste are early on Saturday mornings with arrivals to Patras late on Sunday afternoons.
The first one-way ticket for the intermodal train will be free of charge for new customers of U.N. Ro-Ro and for all logistics companies who would like to load their units to the Patras-Trieste and Trieste-Patras lines.
In cooperation with Grimaldi Lines, a company with regular sailings from Patras to Venice, Bari, Ancona, Genoa and Ravenna in Italy and to Spain, Tunisia and Morocco via Italy, all customers of U.N. Ro-Ro would be able to use those new transport routes in the Mediterranean.
In the coming days, U.N. Ro-Ro will continue its growth with new investments. In 2018, the company will lengthen its two ro-ro ships to increase the vessel capacity and efficiency, which will offer significant opportunities to all logistics companies.

DFDS will in 2019 invest DKK 300m to install scrubbers on 12 freight ferries deployed on freight routes in the Mediterranean between Turkey, Italy, Greece and France. In April, European shipping and logistics group DFDS signed an agreement with the owners of the Turkish shipping company U.N. Ro-Ro to acquire the shares in the company.

DFDS ACQUIRES MAJOR MEDITERRANEAN SHIPPING GROUP U.N. RO-RO
Danish shipping and logistics group DFDS has acquired Turkey’s largest operator of Ro-Ro freight ships and will be a major player in the strong and continuously growing trade between the EU and Turkey. U.N. Ro-Ro operates five routes connecting Italy and France with Turkey, 12 ships and port terminals in Trieste and in Pendik, Istanbul. U.N. Ro-Ro employs 500 people. The deal is subject to approval by the authorities.
